I don't really know for sure but I am quite confident that I didn't encounter any information whatsoever in the documentation about adding your usb sound card (or any hotplugged hardware) to that config file.Īnd real thanks to you guys, I'll try to fix it and let you know how it went. I also had to delete /.cmus folder and reinstall application to get UTF-8 encoding working, but everything is fine now. Nothing happens, no errors are being diplayed, nothing in logs - it just sits there and blinks. The outcome is that the cursor goes one line down and just blinks there. cmus directory from users home dir and tried to run cmus. Re-encoding 2761 mp3s with Easytag took 'only' 2 hours, and vanished tags in approx 150 files. Then when I tried to run cmus and play some music, it would hang and only kill -9 would help. Seems like I have to add my usb hardware entr(y|ies) to that les file. Ive found out, that cmus doesnt support id3v2.4, but only id3v2.3. Well whoopsie-fuc.n-do.īut thanks to ZekeSulastin link now at least I know where to look for solution. I ran across this post on the cmus GitHub wiki detailing how to run cmus in detached mode. Today I also duct-taped the following together: I love the cmus music player, but have longed for a way to run it as a daemon. I lost my will to play with my system when I left gentoo and here I was back again.Īnd now you're telling me I have to remove myself again. Im trying to get more involved in the Arch community here on the forums recently, as well as adopting a package (yay). Cmus segfaults if I try to play file with diacritics (eg. I can hear the hard drive is really working hard. You can imagine how "happy" I was with ARCH devs. Attached to Project: Arch Linux Opened by vlastik (vlastik) - Saturday,, 14:17 GMT Last edited by Ionut Biru (wonder) - Sunday,, 21:52 GMT Task Type: Bug Report. I use cmus regularly, and when I start it, it spends some time looking through my music folder while adding things to the list. I lost two days of meddling with my system to finally try to get back to audio group and suddenly the sound was back. It was _infuriating_ as I was doing everything EXACTLY as wiki and numerous web articles advised, and still was missing the sound. Each and every program was playing, card was detected, channels unmuted, levels set up, everything seemd fine and there still was NO sound. When I was not in the audio group I had no sound on the external card. Use TAB to complete commands and parameters. Use up/down arrows to browse the command history. To execute a command, press ENTER, and to cancel, press ESC or CTRL-C. I am using two soundcards - one integrated (intel) and one external usb (SB). Everything in cmus is implemented as commands which can be typed at the command line or bound to a key. These same commands are used in configuration files and key bindings. Raw commands are cmus' command mode commands. If no arguments are given cmus-remote reads raw commands from stdin (one command per line). I followed the advice from the systemd wiki and removed myself from the audio group, but then I encountered another problem. Add FILE/DIR/PLAYLIST to playlist, library (-l) or play queue (-q). Yes I do have problems with other software, like audacious segfaults each time I run it as a user.
